Designed specifically for a lithium-ion battery-powered chassis, Nissan LEAF is a medium-size hatchback that comfortably seats five adults and has a range of more than 160km (100 miles) to satisfy real-world consumer requirements. Nissan LEAF is slated for launch in late 2010 in Japan, the United States, and Europe.

electric cars actually have a faster acceleration speed than traditional gasoline ones. It's just that? the top speed and range is really bad.

Actually, 5 years; if they are abused. Battery life on Lithium Manganese cells is variable to the use and rates they are charged. Slow charging from 50% and not racing the car? will see ten years to 80% DoD. Like the Prius, people will soon be throwing in far superior cells that will outlast the life of the car. In fact, some people have thrown out the engine on the Prius because like all fuel cars, they are a financial liability and a dead weight.

This has a car range of over 100 miles. Acceleration to 60mph in about 9 seconds and fast enough to get you banned. While being cheaper to buy, own and run in its lifetime than just about? any other car on the road. At the same time its a cracking good drive. The best bit is you don't ever have to be hassled queuing to fill it up and messing around with cash in all sorts of crappy weather.

Who has money to buy a Leaf, also has to solar panel. Leaf is 99% recyclable, Batteries will be bought by Nissan after 10 years. Next year will have autonomy of? 300? km. Good energy is energy produced at home.

I like the concept of the car but damn these are ugly cars. Almost as ugly as the? Prius. I truly do hope that I will see the day when most of the cars on the road are electric, but hopefully they will look better then the leaf.

You people are incredibly dumb, electric cars are more expensive because they're in their infancy. Of course fossil fuel will be used to power electric cars for the? forseeable future, at least until solar panels becomes much, much more efficient or nuclear power takes over. ELECTRIC CARS ARE THE FUTURE, not the today. It will be close to a century before we see a complete conversion, most of us will be long dead.
